Enhancing the quality of the catalog
The crowncaps.su team continues to work on the catalog's completeness and usefulness. The good news is that we continue to have more caps and fewer white spots! However, we shouldn't forget the quality of the material in the catalog. Very often, we receive pictures that do not look as good as what we want, and expect, in a quality catalog. Because even a poor picture is better than none at all, we post pictures of inferior quality anyway in the hope we can replace them in the future with better ones.
Aluminum crown caps searching with a metal detector
In this article I will try to describe a very interesting hobby – metal detection – and how it relates to our own more general hobby, crown caps collecting.
Beer catalog from 1957
Dmitri Senkevich has sent me an old beer catalog from 1957 entitled "Beer and Alcohol-free Beverages".
The Work Continues
I have not written any posts during the last few weeks, primarily because there has been no significant news. In a sense, "no news is good news" because this indicates that the project is stable and continues to evolve as it becomes better known among collectors. There have been a few additions, though: Andrey Maslov has posted some aluminum variations from Moscow. There is still much to do before the site is comprehensive.
New editor
We have a new editor in our catalog!
Variations with minor differences
We are continue to work on the catalog! Here, Vyacheslav Morozov (aka probkin) begins to add variations having small differences.
Generics
A new entry has been added to the republic's list: "Generics".
The Crowncaps.su team
One of the main goals I intend to reach with this project: making it the collective work of number of people interested in the subject. One of the most famous Russian proverbs says: “One head is good, two are better.” Four are even better!
Photographing of reflective caps
Continuing the discussion of the quality of pictures in the catalog, I would like to share my experience with you.
Picture quality in the catalog
Collectors, you have probably noticed the growth of the catalog. There are many new variations of individual caps and complete sets (calendars) in it. However, some of the illustrations are of inferior quality.
